News from NSS

NSS Final Day Special Events

Rinpoche will offer a lung/transmission during the final talk of NSS. We will hold a Tenzhuk, the Aurora of Blessings sadhana and tsok, and the Lineage Ceremony to officially welcome new students into the sangha. Please read below for more information.

Lung

Rinpoche will offer a lung (transmission) of “Liberation Through Hearing” texts from the Tukdrub Barche Kunsel terma cycle of Chokgyur Lingpa during Sunday's talk. The lung will only be available through the live stream and will not be recorded.

During Friday's talk, Rinpoche offered the same lung, but since there were technical difficulties with the stream, he has graciously offered to repeat the transmission on Sunday.

Aurora of Blessings Sadhana and Tsok

The Aurora of Blessings tsok ceremony is a guru yoga practice of His Holiness Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche. We do this practice to celebrate the conclusion of NSS and to appreciate Khyentse Rinpoche’s grace and blessings, which enabled us to have such a wonderful program. For the purpose of this program, we have added access to this restricted text to our Resources page. Please do not print or distribute the liturgy.

Tenzhuk

During occasions of special teachings and great gatherings such as the NSS, we perform a ceremony called the Tenzhuk. The Tenzhuk is an outward manifestation of our innermost appreciation of our teacher, the Venerable Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche, and furthers our mutual connection as teacher and students. It is an expression of our gratitude to our teacher, for the teachings we have received, and the wish that his and all our aspirations be fulfilled.

We will perform the Tenzhuk at the conclusion of our virtual NSS together. Since we are virtual, Dungse-la, Elizabeth, and Sarah (Dungsela's wife) will make these offerings on behalf of us all. The traditional offerings of body, speech, mind, qualities and activity will be offered by Dungse Jampal Norbu with assistance from Sarah, and the gifts to the teacher will be presented by Elizabeth Mattis Namgyel. The gifts to the teacher will include offerings on behalf of us attending, as well as offerings sent in by the Mangalams and  students from centers around the world, our larger sangha of Mangala Shri Bhuti.

The ceremony joins each of us in a great supplication for the teacher to remain long among us and to continue to turn the wheel of Dharma unimpededly. As all things are cause and effect, we are furthering the auspicious circumstances to continue to progress along the path in our teacher's footsteps together as one mandala, until complete enlightenment.
Teachers Offerings

It is appropriate and auspicious to make an offering to all three teachers on the final day of NSS. There are several methods to do so listed on this page.

We encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity to practice generosity and express your appreciation for the teachers and teachings.
